Mars 2117 Programme aims to build the knowledge and scientific capabilities that will enable the UAE to build Mars Science City and explore Mars to address the challenges of food, water and energy security on Earth

The Mars 2117 strategy is a part of the UAE National Space Programme. It’s goals are supported through four main pillars:

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Enabling the UAE’s pioneering role in developing life support systems that would make it possible to live on other planets, and to develop capabilities to gather more information about the surfaces of these planets

EDUCATION

Instilling a culture based on discovery and exploration in future generations of all education levels

ENABLEMENT

Empowering the UAE and the Arab world to contribute to humanity’s efforts on the journey to Mars and beyond by enabling and building capabilities

COLLABORATION

Fostering effective partnerships with leading organizations and individuals in order to achieve the programme’s goals.

Mission

To prepare cadres of space scientists and engineers that can enable the UAE to contribute to the development of space travel and planetary settlement capabilities, in particular the establishment of a human colony on the red planet

Vision

To develop scientific and innovative technical capabilities necessary to achieve a sustainable human settlement on Mars.

Objectives

To enable the UAE to contribute to the development of life support systems and solutions for human settlements on other planets, while simultaneously harnessing scientific research to address the challenges of food, water and energy security on Earth

MARS SCIENCE CITY

In line with Mars 2117 Strategy, Mars Science City will comprise laboratories that will stimulate the red planet’s terrain and harsh environment for food, energy and water, agricultural testing and studies.
